yes there is a program called GWx2 (moderators remove this please if its not allowed) link

(please note, i cannot give the website itself because of eula regulations of anet)

little update on my for the question if its bannable:
its a grey area, i have been in contact with techsupport some time ago here is the question and answer:

Customer (Rene de Jong) 06/11/2007 09:20 PM
dear ncsoft,

i have the following question,
at this moment i own multiple account of the fantastic game Guildwars, because of the fact i have multiple accounts i have installed it on 2 pc's (1 account for my main characters and the other for storage), lately someone pointed me to a website where they have a file called: GWx2 ,(removed website link) what this file does is this: it lets you run 2 copys on 1 pc.
Now i have the following question, is the usage of this program illegal (i contacted the creator with the same question but he does not reply to it), i hope that you can give me an "yes, illegal" or "no, not illegal" answer because i want to make sure beforhand that its save to use and not get an suprisingly ban or something. if it isnt illegal i will be glad because then i dont have to run 60 steps up and down anymore :P (good for the health though).

Hope to see an reply very soon
Greetings from the netherlands,
Rene de Jong

Hello Rene,

Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars Customer Support Team.

We strongly recommend never download these sorts of programs. Even if you think you can trust the site you are getting them from. We also highly suggest you take a look at this Security FAQ that includes more information regarding keeping your Guild Wars account secure: http://support.guildwars.com/cgi-bin...hp?p_faqid=993

We would like also to suggest you take a look at the "Rules of Conduct" and "Conduct Breaches & Outcomes" pages, which are listed below.

- Rules of Conduct: http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...sofconduct.php

- Conduct Breaches & Outcomes: http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...d_outcomes.php

in some cases, player that uses this kind of programs may risk to have their account blocked.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Regards,
GM Stefania

The link in DJrDJ's post just links back to this thread. Is it possible to get the link? and could we get some proper feedback from anet on this? and could any of you computer geniuses check this program out to let us know if it is safe, please?

This would be great for me right now since I broke my laptop and can't shift things onto my mule account.

GWx2 is perfectly safe. I've been using it for a couple years now.

Feedback from Gaile is that Anet won't support it if you have problems, but it doesn't violate the EULA. I believe Gaile has stated that she uses it.

can you do something with virtual PC? i used it once to test a new windows version on my pc.
You might be able to install GW on a virtual PC and play while running GW on your normal operating system (might be tough on the performence but if you only want tot trade between accounts or rush yourself through lornar pass)

make 1 extra folder : copy the following files from the 1st to the 2nd
GW.exe and GW.dat (make sure its fully updated) and do not copy any other files (except maybe the "templates" folder)

after that open GWx2.exe and point out the 2 different folders in the program.
then it should run.

Note: if guildwars has an update the other copy wont work, you need the recopy paste from folder 1 to folder 2

(at this moment you need 2x 4,79 GB )

Hey It still seems to do the same thing, I did what you said like this.

http://img.waffleimages.com/968b6e17...Untitled-1.jpg

Any Idea why it would still be closing the second window down?

first thing i notice is the very small size of youre .dat file

perform an gw.exe -image to update fully.
then:

copy make a folder like this (not in youre current GW folder)

copy these 2 files only (the blue selected ones and watch my filesize)

paste it in the other folder

then you should have this as result when you start it
(3200x1200 dual screen setup)

I saw someone thing about a file that contains your campaign progress etc. but I cant seem to find the thread that it was on, I contained something about loosing your characters data when asked to uninstall then reinstall this certain file... I'm not so sure I want to download GWX2 after reading that. Anyone heard about this?

All your character data is stored on ArenaNets servers, you can not lose your progress by uninstalling/deleting guildwars from your computer.

I can't find a single working link to GW2x.

I don't see the need for this secrecy - ArenaNet has stated they're OK with people running two instances of GW on the same computer provided they have two accounts. The only thing is that they do not provide support in case there are any technical difficulties.

Heh, that links back to this page too, Numa. Some arcane forum trickery at work, methinks. Copy and paste into address bar should work (same link as post #2, btw)

Totally off-topic, but here's an excellent rule for everyone out there:

If you're going to post a screenshot from your computer, make sure you don't have your porn files on your desktop. Way to go, YKKid.

Actually I got that very link from this thread. The first link posted (in the second post) takes you there.
So does the first result in post #5.
